PETROCHEM USA offers a comprehensive line of powdered & liquid cement additives that improve & assist in curating cement slurries more efficiently and effectively in oil & gas drilling operations. PETROCHEM's additives allow owners & operators to adapt quickly to certain well temperature conditions, deliver stronger slurries, resolve free water within the mixture and improve formation and setting times. The cement additives listed below are made exclusively for the land and offshore oilfield industry.
Petrochem's Antifoam & Defoamers were developed for use for foam control in a broad range of petrochemical processes and can prevent or reduce foaming tendencies within cement slurries.
P-DFL (Defoamer Liquid) and P-NFP (No Foam Powder) do not change the slurry properties or the quality of the set cement, are compatible with all classes of Cement, Cement Extenders, Cement Additives and can be pre-blended during the cement slurry preparation process where foaming issues arise.
Petrochem's Anti-Settling additives are compatible with all commonly used cements and cement additives, in addition to increasing rheological values and providing stability improvement within slurries.
P-ASA (Anti-Settling Additive Powder), P-ASAL (Anti-Settling Additive Liquid). P-ASA3 (Anti-Settling Additive 3 Powder) and P-ASA3L (Anti-Settling Additive 3 Liquid) have minimal effects on thickening times, fluid loss control, compressive strength development and are excellent slurry stabilizers that are designed to improve suspension properties for dispersed cement slurries.
P-CWL2 (Chemical Wash Liquid 2) & P-CWL3 (Chemical Wash Liquid 3) are a concentrated liquid chemical pre-flush designed as a cement aid for use where the cement slurry must displace a water or oil base drilling mud. P-CWL2 is designed as a pre-flush to displace water-base drilling mud, whereas P-CWL3 can be used to displace both water-based and oil-based drilling mud. These Chemical Washes & Spacers prevent mud gelation which usually occur when cement comes in contact with a water or oil base drilling mud. The use of P-CWL2 & P-CWL3 sweep the mud ahead and disperses residual mud left in contact with the walls of the pipe and formation.
P-NSL2 (Nonionic Surfactant Liquid) is required at a concentration of 1-2 gallons per barrel of P-CWL2 to make the Chemical Wash Liquid 2 compatible with the oil-based mud.
P-D88 (Dispersant Powder), P-D88L (Dispersant Liquid), P-HTD & P-HTDL (High Temp. Dispersant Powder & Liquid) can be dry blended or dispersed in the mix water to provide uniform distribution throughout the cement slurry. P-D88 & P-D88L can be used from low to high density slurries and with fresh water to saturated salt water up to 350°F, whereas P-HTD & P-HTDL are designed for use in high temperature cement slurries ranging from 200 - 525°F and will function in cement slurries containing salt in any concentration.
P-HTD & P-HTDL also have Trifunctional benefits in that they work as a Dispersant, Retarder, and also enhance the effectiveness of most Fluid-Loss additives.
P-EXT (Extender Powder) is a silicate extender which provides greater compressive strength than gel. The addition of P-EXT to a cement slurry will allow the use of larger quantities of mix water than recommended by the API standards without excessive water separation. (this affords a lower density and a higher slurry yield). The addition of 3% of P-EXT can increase the yield of a sack of cement by as much as 250%. P-EXT accelerates the strength development of the cement & due to the low bulk storage requirements, and is most applicable in remote locations and offshore where available bulk storage is limited.
P-EXTL (Extender Liquid) is used in cement slurries which have been prepared with sea water. However, it may be used with fresh water that has been treated with Calcium Chloride to adjust the water to 3,500 ppm Calcium. If Calcium Chloride is to be used, it must be added to the mix water prior to adding the P-EXTL or other additives. It may be necessary to adjust the concentration of P-EXTL, Calcium Chloride and retarder to minimize free water and optimize thickening time.
P-F300 : <300°F (Low to Medium Temperature Fluid Loss Powder) & P-F400 : <400°F (Moderate to High Temperature Fluid Loss Powder) are pre-dispersed non-retarding fluid-loss additive powders for use in low, medium and high temperature cement slurries with fresh to saturated salt water, (and develop early compressive strength with no adverse effect to the thickening time).
P-F400L : <400°F (Moderate to High Temperature Fluid Loss Liquid) is to be pre-dissolved in the mix water to reduce uncontrolled water loss from the slurry into the porous formation, improves rheological behavior & ensures the flow-ability of the cement slurry.
P-FLE : <200°F (Fluid Loss Additive For Extended Systems) is designed for use in low density slurries. These slurries are obtained using special lightweight cements or cement extenders. Due to the added mix water in the extended cement system high Fluid Loss values are experienced compared to conventional slurries, which results in reduced cement fill up and increased hydrostatic pressure. Conventional fluid loss additives were found to be impractical due to the large amount of product needed to obtain control. However, P-FLE is an effective fluid loss additive since very small quantities are required to obtain values between 50 - 200 ml/30 min.
P-500 (Petrochem’s Stabilizer for P-1000) is a High Temperature Salt stabilizer for P-1000 that acts as a Dispersant and was originally developed for preventing any premature destabilization of P-1000 at high BHCT's.
P-1000 : <200°F (Gas Control & Shear Bond Cement Additive) is a liquid cement additive for combatting gas migration and enhancing the shear bond strength of cement to pipe and hole, at BHCT up to 200°F and can be used with either fresh, salt or sea water up to 8% NaCL BWOW.

P-CTSP (Coil Tubing, Squeeze & Plug) is a pre-blended powdered additive for use in Squeeze & PTA cementing application via Coil Tubing and contains a proprietary blend of powdered (Fluid-Loss, Dispersant, and Strength additives) for use in low to high temperature cement slurries <350°F, (that can be mixed with either fresh or sea water. P-CTSP can either be pre-dissolved in the mix water or dry blended in the cement and is compatible with all API classes of cement & cement additives including silica flour, slag and fly ash. For extended thickening times,
P-SRL (Synthetic Retarder Liquid) may be used.
P-ESA (Enhanced Strength Additive) is a fibrous material that has been developed to increase the stress resistance of cement, (the function of the fibers is to reinforce the cement by transferring the stress evenly throughout the cement). P-ESA is recommended for use in any cement system where increased stress resistance is required, it increases the tensile, compressive, and shear strength of the cement and is compatible with all cement systems and cement additives. Special cement systems having a high viscosity, such as Thixotropic Cement or high gel cement, should be pre-tested with P-ESA to ensure that the resulting slurry is not too viscous.
P-FA78 (Foaming Agent 78 Liquid) is a concentrated foaming agent that can be formulated into products for foam or mist drilling and can also be used as a foaming agent for unloading low-pressure gas wells, foaming HCl solutions, fracturing solutions, KCl water, etc. P-FA78 can be used in many types of aqueous systems, including water, sodium chloride brine, and high calcium brines.
P-FFA (Free Flow Additive) is a solid adsorption product that reduces and/or eliminates the build-up of static electricity when transferring materials such as cement, propping agents, and minerals, (these materials can be handled more efficiently with less product loss). P-FFA not only minimizes static electricity, but it also alleviates air entrainment due to particle agglomeration. P-FFA is a newly developed, specialty compound designed to significantly reduce the time for loading, transfer and offloading of fine particulates.
P-SPG (Squeeze, PTA & Gas Control) is a pre-blended powdered additive for use in a Squeeze, PTA or Gas Control cementing applications. P-SPG contains a proprietary blend of powdered (Fluid-Loss, Dispersant, Anti-Foam, Expanding & Strength) additives for use in low to medium temperature cement slurries <200°F.
P-SPG can be mixed with either fresh or sea water, can either be pre-dissolved in the mix water or dry blended in the cement and is compatible with all API classes of cement and cement additives including silica flour, slag and fly ash.
P-XCA2 (Low Temp. Expanding Cement Additive 2 Powder) for use in cement slurries <200°F.
P-XCA4 (High Temp. Expanding Cement Additive 4 Powder) for slurries designated for use between 200 - 400°F.
P-XCA2 & P-XCA4 both provide early expansion of the set cement, improves bonding for better zonal isolation, prevents cement volume losses (due to shrinkage), reduces pipe corrosion, scale build-up, provides a positive seal to the pipe and formation, helps to prevent fluid and gas migration in the well bore, is compatible with all API classes of cement and cement additives and has little effect on viscosity and/or thickening time.
P-TTC (Thixotropic Cement) is a powdered additive used with Gypsum cement in isolation or in combination with Portland cement and can be used for capping a gravel plug back, protecting a bridge plug, a temporary plug or similar repairs on gas and oil wells. In situations where openings for effective bridging or squeeze work appear, gypsum cement can be used to attempt to seal off lost circulation zones, (it is also used for killing a well, repairing holes in pipe to set a short surface, or conductor pipe). Neat gypsum cement has a slight water solubility and should not be used where high strength plugs or permanent seals are required. The primary use of gypsum cement is for temporary remedial plugs. Gypsum cement has high gel strength and is a quick setting cement. Accelerators, retarders and temperature significantly affect the thickening time of gypsum cement.
P-TTCL (Thixotropic Cement Liquid) is a liquid additive of which the distinguishing feature is Thixotropy. This property enables the cement slurry to be fluid when in motion (such as being pumped) and of forming a gel when allowed to stand. This gel structure is strong enough to support the weight of the slurry column, preventing fall back. If sufficient force is applied to move the slurry, the gel structure is disturbed and the slurry returns to a fluid/pump-able state. However, these systems develop considerable gel strength and becomes difficult to move after remaining stationary for a period of time.
